breathe . . .

I somehow managed to pass my gestational diabetes test. With my family history, it has got to be a christlike miracle that I've evaded it 3 times - but miraculously, I have.

So anyhow, the jester has been running high fevers, lethargic and had a high white cell count in addition to abdominal pain. After two blood tests for him, leukemia and hodgskins disease were ruled out, only to have the doc tell me that HE needed to be tested for TYPE 1 diabetes.

In the meantime, my OB tells me that she thinks I was right all along, and my due date is even sooner than anticipated.

So while I am mulling that over, the jesters doc calls and says that he does not have diabetes, but does have a mono type disease called CMV. He should be fine, although it can take months to resolve, and ummmm, I might want to call my OB.

So I do . . . .and it goes like this:

"The jester was diagnosed with cytomeglo virus."

Doc "Are you sure?"

Me, "Well, I wasn't in the lab myself, but she sounded pretty sure."

Doc "How sure?"

Me " The test took 3 days."

Doc " That's sure. I'm gonna need you to take a blood test. Don't panic, but we need to know if you're producing antibodies."

Me "What if I am."

Doc, "like I said, don't panic. There can be complications. But let's check first - and just rest - a LOT."

So, following that reassuring conversation, I turned to my good friend google.

It was devastating - absolutely devastating. Right now I am just keeping my fingers crossed and trying to breathe. Fearing for two of my childrens' lives in one week is more than I am capable of at the moment. Wish I didn't worry so much.
