update

Since I had no trouble mentioning the fact that my grandma extended her sympathies to us on the impending arrival of child number 3, I feel it's only fair to share the following conversation I over heard her having with said child over the holidays:

"Listen to me carefully Danni. You are the youngest, and I am the oldest, and nobody wants to listen to anything either one of us has to say. But you should listen - yes you should, because even though we are right here right now, I will never get to see you grow up - it's true. But hold this in your heart right now - I will always love you, always know you. You are my very last great grandchild, and that makes you special to me."

Yep - that is what Gram said. The stoic 94 year-old matriarch of the clan. She's already nicknamed this baby, holds her every chance she gets, and writes her notes for future reference. Apparently they get along just dandy.
