Second visit with the neurologist today.
I declined the MRI twice - which did not make him happy - but oh well.
I don't think it would have turned up anything anyway - and I do seem to be getting better bit by bit. Before I could not walk at all. Now I can, but only for short periods, then I have to rest.
He said he really needs to monitor me closely, because although tests showed some things that might help us crack this, there was nothing definite. What we do know is that I have an elevated white cell count - not huge, but significant enough to mention, and that my "muscle juice" (to be honest I cannot remember what it is called - but it is some sort of enzyme that damaged muscles make) is three times what a normal person should have. Other than potassium, which is a bit low, there is nothing else that he can find unless I take the MRI - which I am not going to do.
So, hopefully I am on the mend. Hopefully it was a fluke. Hopefully I will be walking next week.

How ridiculous! I hope you get to the bottom of this... Have you run you symptoms past D? For some reasonje has a great interest & ability to research medical problems. You've already got a neurologist on the case but maybe he has some ideas....
Come on...why wouldn't you get an MRI? Do it for your kids. If something is wrong with you that can be easily treated, whatever issue you have with an MRI can be overcome. Call me...I'll go with you and hold your hand. Seriously. Mr. Treats went in with me for an MRI once.
I agree with Treats. I just didn't want to seem bossy (but why stop being bossy now?)
Do it sister!
found your site today and really liked it.. i bookmarked it and will be back to check it out some more later ..
