secret notes

When I was 26 I went back to the hospital. Not mama's - mine. And I took all of the records and photo copied them. Pages and pages of notes by counselors and psychologists - 30 of which are from the first three days, which is strange, because I hardly said a word the whole first week.

I cannot write about yet - but they did. In the first two days they figured out:
•This family has suffered multiple deaths and losses in a very short period of time: Mother, 4 Grandparents, entire stepfamily within 4 years, a cross country move.

•Theraputic silence does NOT encourage this girl to talk

•Extremely high suicide risk - this little girl fits the profile for suicide success.

•There are too many issues here - it's impossible to tell what's going on with her. She will not talk.

But this. . . this here is the most telling. Because even though we never spoke in front of him, on the second day, my doctor had scribbled in the margins of his notes:

•The brother is sweet and aims to please. There is something going on there - a secret - the two of them seem to be in collusion about something.

Wow, that is really perceptive, that a doctor would pick something like that up. Do you remember that specific doctor at all? I think was a great idea to go back and copy all of the records. It is interesting how they wrote so much, when you said so little. Take your time with your writing journey, it is about healing and understanding. I think your on the right road.
