Oh yes I did.
I did two things today that surprised even me. First I took the jester to school. Not school in our kitchen, or on our couch, or even in the basement - REAL school - the one with classrooms and a gymnasium and a principal who toured with us for over an hour. We have ben before, but today there was a method to my madness.
Today was the last day before winter break - so the kids were having free-time, playing games, making projects - today school looked like one big PAR-TAY! The jester, who had been giving me sad puppy eyes all morning, loved it. (It didn't hurt when we walked into the gym and no less that 20 of his friends were there calling our his name and running around like maniacs.) though technically we are "undecided," the plan (which we are keeping TOP secret in case we change our minds, or it doesn't work out) is to send him right after winter break. And right now - he is pretty excited. When he saw the math and reading books - he looked at me with a huge grin and mouthed "first grade!" which is when he finished most of that stuff, so I think he is breathing easier about the whole thing.
Then after that, in a flurry of relief/excitement/guilt/sadness I took them both to eat at Sweet Lou's Waffle Bar for lunch - yes LUNCH. I let them order whatever they wanted - no restrictions. The jester had a waffle with marshmallow fluff, reeses pieces and maple syrup. The princess chose hot fudge, m&M's and whipped cream. It was sickening just to watch.
But in two weeks I am going to miss this.

Your secret is safe with me and I'll support you in your decision. I'll also be there to hand you kleenex if the Jester goes off to "real" school. I was a puddle when both of my kids went off into the "real" world...and I'm not one to shed the tears too readily.
You're wicked clever to take him on "party day".
But I'm a little sad.
You and me both Melanie - but it's only for a while - we're thinking of it like summer camp - in January.

I'm sure he'll love it! He sounds like a really social kid so I doubt he'll be bored... and with a good home learning base he's bound to keep up with learning at home and continue to stay far ahead of the other students (not to mention keep up with exhausting you :) ).
But if someday I walk into my clinic and see his little 12 year old face staring back at me from atop a doctor's lab coat I WILL have to laugh...
